Real Estate Licensing Guide

Step 1: Meet Basic Eligibility Requirements

To obtain a Real Estate Sales Associate license in Oklahoma, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work
  • Be of good moral character

Step 2: Complete Required Pre-Licensing Education

You must complete 90 hours of Oklahoma-approved real estate education through an Oklahoma Real Estate Commission (OREC)–approved provider, including:

  • 45 hours of Basic Real Estate
  • 45 hours of Advanced Real Estate

Step 3: Pass the Oklahoma Real Estate Exam

After completing your education, you must pass the Oklahoma Real Estate Sales Associate Exam, which includes:

  • National portion
  • State-specific portion

The exam is administered by PSI Exams.

Step 4: Complete Criminal Background Check

You must submit to a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, as part of the licensing process.

Step 5: Find a Sponsoring Broker

You must be sponsored by a licensed Oklahoma real estate broker who will supervise your activities.

Step 6: Submit Your License Application

Submit your Sales Associate License Application to the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission, including:

  • Proof of education
  • Exam pass results
  • Background check documentation
  • Sponsoring broker information
  • Required fees

Step 7: Receive Your License

Once approved, your Oklahoma Real Estate Sales Associate license will be issued and activated under your sponsoring broker.

Step 8: Complete Post-Licensing Education

Within your first year of licensure, you must complete 45 hours of post-licensing education.

Step 9: Maintain Your License with Continuing Education

  • Licenses are renewed every three years
  • You must complete 21 hours of continuing education per renewal cycle
